Tropical Sun food & drink sponsor for We Are Here - Image17's Windrush photography project

3/7/2020

Tropical Sun foods brand (part of Waltham Forest based Wanis International) has become the food and drinks sponsor for collective Image17s* latest photography project We Are Here.

The photography project captures Waltham Forest's 'Windrush' residents who came to the UK from the Caribbean to create new lives from the 1950s to the 1970s.  Tropical Sun will support the launch and three Artist's Talks related to We Are Here events which will be held at Vestry House Museum over the coming months.

Tropical Sun brand manager Sinan Jeffries commented: "We are truly honoured to support We Are Here, an exhibition showcasing personal photographs, mementos and oral testimonies of the Windrush residents of Waltham Forest, East London.  The exhibition is free to enter and runs until Nov 1st."
Picture
We Are Here launched on 5th March 2020
Picture
We Are Here comprises over 50 contemporary photographic portraits, curated alongside over 100 personal family pictures, mementos and oral testimonies.  Once completed the whole body of work will be held at the local Vestry House Museum for locals and historians to access.

The exhibition is the focal point for 9 months of activities that celebrate this important unsung generation and marks the 72nd year since the arrival of the British troopship HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks, Essex, on 21 June 1948.

There is a full programme of events that includes artist talks and themed family days, plus a set of dedicated teaching resource materials based on the exhibition is being developed, to be used in Waltham Forest schools.
